The End Of The Beginning.
Welcome to another semester. The first week is finished and I have not completed any of my weekly goals. Par for the course. So, what was the week like? Spatially it was empty. Campus looked like a ghost town and working from home included my two Great Danes competing for my attention. Well, let’s be honest, one was getting all the attention while our “Big Bear” slept and slept and then slept some more.
That being said, work continued at the Gallery. Roman coins are being organized and I finally have this blog up and running, LIVE!! A Podcast is in discussion with a co-host to be announced in the near future, and I am currently working on another series for Rogue History that will begin next week. Juno, She’s A Badass. (Thx Syd!)
The objective of the series is to bring attention to more of the lesser-known women of Roman history. Each post will focus of a particular Roman woman from the coin collection I am currently doing my research with.
The idea came to mind when I noticed a coin of Julia Soaemias and realized I knew nothing about her. I looked Julia up (because we are on a first name basis), and WTF! She was F’d up — Like Killed — Brutally, because she was the mother of Emperor Elagabalus. Now, that isn’t the whole story and I have to admit that I have not done a ton of research yet. But she will be the first Roman woman I will write about in the series. Keep an eye out for future posts and possible Praetorian Guards looking to toss your dead ass into the Tiber. Oh! Spoiler Alert!
